Privacy Policy — Reground
1. Overview
Reground is a mobile application designed to help people experiencing anxiety or panic attacks calm down through guided, step-by-step breathing and grounding exercises. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.
The most important thing to know: Reground does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. All data you enter into the app stays on your device at all times.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you set up and use Reground, the following information may be stored locally on your device:

2.2 Device Permissions
Reground requests the following device permissions:
Contacts access (READ_CONTACTS / Contacts entitlement)
- Used solely to let you choose an emergency contact from your address book.
- Reground reads the selected contact's name and phone number and stores them locally on your device.
- Reground does not access, scan, upload, or store your full contact list.
- Granting this permission is optional. You can skip the emergency contact setup entirely.
Vibration (VIBRATE — Android only)
- Used to provide haptic feedback during breathing exercises.
- No personal data is involved.
Audio playback
- Used to play bundled breathing tone sounds included within the app.
- No microphone access is requested or used. No audio is recorded.
2.3 Information We Do Not Collect
Reground does not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any account credentials
- Location data of any kind
- Device identifiers (IMEI, advertising ID, etc.)
- Usage analytics or crash reports sent to us
- Health or medical records
- Any data that identifies you personally beyond what you choose to enter
3. How We Use Your Information
All data stored by Reground is used exclusively to:
- Display your personalized settings and preferences within the app
- Deliver the guided crisis intervention flow adapted to your age and tone preference
- Show your custom reassurance messages during exercises
- Enable one-tap calling to your chosen emergency contact
Your data is never used for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not share your personal information with anyone. Because all data remains on your device, it is never transmitted to Strandvik Analytics or any third party.
Reground does not integrate:
- Analytics SDKs (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel)
- Advertising networks
- Social media platforms
- Cloud storage services
- Any external APIs or servers
5. Data Storage and Security
All app data is stored using standard iOS and Android local storage mechanisms (SharedPreferences / UserDefaults and a local Hive database). This data is:
- Protected by your device's built-in security (screen lock, device encryption if enabled)
- Never transmitted over any network
- Accessible only by the Reground app on your device
We follow the principle of minimal data collection: we only store what is strictly necessary for the app to function.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Your data persists on your device for as long as the app is installed.
To delete all your data:
- Uninstall Reground from your device. This removes all locally stored settings, messages, and contact information.
- On Android, you can also use Settings → Apps → Reground → Clear Data to erase all app data without uninstalling.
- On iOS, you can delete the app from your Home Screen, which removes all associated data.
There is no account to delete — we hold no data on any server.
7. Children's Privacy
Reground may be used by people aged 13 and older. The app includes an age range option for users aged 13–17, and adjusts its language accordingly.
Reground does not:
- Knowingly collect personal data from children under 13
- Include advertising directed at minors
- Allow minors to share personal information with other users or externally
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has used this app, please contact us at the address below. Because all data is stored locally on the device, it can be deleted by uninstalling the app.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:
- Access: the right to know what personal data the app stores about you (all of it is visible directly within the app settings)
- Correction: you can edit all stored data at any time from within the app
- Deletion: you can delete all data by uninstalling the app or clearing app data (see Section 6)
- Portability: all your data exists solely on your device and is under your direct control
Because we do not hold any of your data on external servers, there is no need to submit a formal request to exercise most of these rights — you can act directly on your device.
9. Third-Party Services
Reground does not use any third-party services that process your personal data.
The following open-source libraries are used internally. None of them transmit personal data:

10. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this document and, where required, provide notice within the app or on the app store listing.
We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
